First…my apologies…I know, I know…it’s been too long!  My summer life is different than most!  Just as you are all settling in for a lovely time of sunbathing and vacations, I am at my busiest working for a summer day camp in the area!  So…there isn’t much time, but as it starts to wind down, my posts will wind back up!  I promise…I can’t stay away too long!

I was recently on the hunt for something summery and fabulous and turquoise to wear with my crisp white t-shirts and I came across this beautiful turquoise necklace on Etsy made by Alona Lahav Handmade Design!  Her pieces are wonderfully crafted little works of art to hang from your neck, your ears or to adorn your fingers with!  There are also magnets and other little home decor trinkets!  They make great gifts and I am finding it’s hard to stay away from her shop once you own your first piece!

I saw these piece by Heartworks by Lori on the Etsy main page on Tuesday and I had to share them!  They’re pendants and pocket watch lockets that combine jewelry design with work by a well known Etsy photographer, Irene Suchocki.  I love the combination of the cool metals and warm photography.  They have a unique yet antique look and made me feel immediately nostalgic!  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Ok, so I admit it, it’s a shameless post but I had to do it!  I recently decided to change my Coquito for Etsy shop into something different from my website.  I have recently become interested in a more vintage feel, and started to play with it a bit.  Buying beads from other Etsyians, I started putting together a collection of vintage and mod styled pieces.  Let me know what you think!  here are a few pairs of earrings, there are a few necklaces to come hopefully this week too!

“Antique Blues” $22

“Baroque Pink” $20

“Vintage Green Swarovski Disco Balls” $18

CS Designs

September 8th, 2008 Kristen Posted in Jewelry 4 Comments »

I revisit this next CS Designs Etsy shop (Cserdan) many times a year and I even own some of her pieces!  What keeps bringing me back is her gift, she can re-invent simplicity…over and over again!  Her necklaces, bracelets and earrings are earth-inspired pieces that are simple, yet so complicated…they are many colors, but are balanced all at once in one necklace.  “How hard can it be to string beads together?” Is a question I’ve heard one too many times at craft shows…and it always irks me.  The amount of patience, and talent and understanding of color and textures that goes into doing what she does floors me!  The colors and shapes and textures actually make me hungry almost, they’re that savory and rich!  I’m actually kinda bummed featuring this necklace, for I am sure someone will scoop it up!  I actually find myself wondering why she isn’t an interior designer too…and I wonder what her house must look like…

“Lovely Medina” $95

“The Winds of Change” $58

“Acorns in Moss” $22

Liebling Designs

August 28th, 2008 Kristen Posted in Jewelry 1 Comment »

I love the vintage quality to these pieces from Liebling Designs. They’re made using silk flowers and beading.  The colors and the simple and elegant look make them easy to wear with almost anything.  They would be particularly fantastic for an occasion at night to brighten up a little black dress!  I’ve never really seen someone use silk flowers as jewelry in such a successful way…they always look cumbersome.  These pieces look like they’re not only easy to wear, but they’d garner lots of attention from curious and jealous onlookers!

“Imperial Ball” $67

“Josephine Necklace” $64

“Autumn Spice Necklace” $120
