The Olde Rhinebeck Inn

I usually post about things that are handmade by artisans across the globe…but today I thought why not post about another “handmade” Indie business? For my 30th *gulp* birthday we stayed at the Olde Rhinebeck Inn Bed and Breakfast in Rhinebeck, NY…and we LOVED it! I thought this would be a nice opportunity to bring into the spotlight this type of Indie business and the amount of love that goes into running one!

The Rhinebeck Inn is a beautiful old farmhouse that was originally built in 1745, and was lovingly given life as a B&B by Jonna and later on David who currently own and run this magical place. From the main entrance door with the original detailed doorknob, to the wide slatted floors and the beautiful rustic fireplace and mantle in the main room, we were in love the minute we walked in!

The spirited dove room we stayed in was also amazingly cozy and romantic…and aside from the obvious draw of a whirpool tub in it’s own private bath, it had a small balcony that overlooked the pond to the side of the property, a seating area, a TV and mini fridge! (stocked with complimentary drinks) The beams running through the ceiling made you feel like you were from another time…it was so comfortable and we had such a good weekend we didn’t want to leave!

Breakfasts were equally as enjoyable, this is the time you get to chat with Jonna, and meet Dave, and their dog Strudel…an adorable little dachshund! The French pear pancake, whole grain waffles and poached eggs were to die for, and the stories that Jonna tells over breakfast make you laugh out loud. Sitting in the rustic dining room, with good food and wonderful company, as you stare out of the top of the split farm house door at fields and barns across the way you can literally feel the stress melting from your shoulders!

We cannot wait to go back…the town of Rhinebeck offers many places to eat, lovely shops for everyone, from gifts to cigars to antiques to children’s clothing to home items…etc. There are hiking trails, and wineries, and old estates to visit, and if you are a theater buff, there is also the center for performing arts at Rhinebeck! There’s no doubt that when we do go back we’ll be heading for the Olde Rhinebeck Inn…!If YOU live near Rhinebeck, NY, and you are looking for a place to stay to get away from life for awhile…we suggest you give Jonna a call…you will be glad that you did!!
